The second Summer Institute in Applied Linguistics will be held on the campus of Penn State University, University Park, Pennsylvania, USA, in the weeks before AILA 2005. The institute will include some 35 course offerings organized in two 2-week sessions. The first session will run from June 27 through July 8 and the second from July 11 through July 21. The faculty will be internationally recognized leaders in Applied Linguistics. Tuition for the institute will be $1,800 for up to six 1-credit courses and $1,200 for non-credit registration. Keynote speakers include Peter Sacks and Jaan Valsiner. Peter Sacks is author of Standardized Minds: The High Price of America’s Testing Culture and Generation X Goes to College: An Eye-Opening Account of Teaching in Postmodern America. Jaan Valsiner is professor of psychology at Clark University and author of Culture and Human Development and The Guided Mind.
